Senators Urge DOJ To Protect Your Passwords

Julia posted about this last week, but I saw an Investment News article yesterday about two U.S. senators urging the DOJ to investigate reports of businesses asking job applicants to share social media passwords. They are claiming this violates federal law. This also reminded me of what Tom said last night about compliance departments requiring employees to submit their LinkedIn credentials. What do you think?

  1. I think that it's outrageous. This is why it's important for people, i.e., the common folk like ourselves, to speak out when topics like privacy, Net Neutrality, SOPA & PIPA, etc. rear their ugly heads.

People in our country continue to embrace the invincible attitude of "this can't happen to me." Sadly, all kinds of things can, and might, happen if we don't speak out.

  2. I agree with Eric. People should have the right to disclose what they want and have a separation between work life and personal life.
