One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating. - Luciano Pavarotti.
Although we have a different body constitution (!), Luciano Pavarotti might certainly be my “food soulmate”. According to the urban dictionary, I am a total Foodie:
“A foodie is a person who loves or has a deep admiration for food and eating food. They might feel happy or very at peace when being around food.”
More than a food obsession, the digital world has allowed me to be connected 24/7 with other foodies on Yelp, eating out with my NYC Culinary explorers Meetup group, and gather to my cravings with my Seamless and Grubhub mobile apps. Oh and not to mention that while I am writing this, I just ordered my new Edible Brooklyn Cookbook with my Amazon’s iPad app...so excited to receive it!
What about sharing our best eats in the city? Please comment with your greatest place to eat and why!
Bon appétit!

You make my mouth water already! Best place to eat? Thai Son Vietnamese restaurant on Baxter Street Chinatown New York.
ReplyDeleteThey have Pho, which is the most popular Vietnamese food. The rice crepe with fish sause (banh cuon cha lua) is my favorite. Pretty authentic as I could get in Viet Nam.
YUM!
Delete"Foodie" I like the word so much.
ReplyDeleteI follow Zagat ratings when I am in search for a good and new food place.
I love the application on Iphone.
Right now I am going through a serious cookie obsession. Best chocolate cookie so far was eaten with pleasurable guilt at The City Bakery on 18th street. If you are in for a full foodgasm, try topping it up with a hot chocolate...
ReplyDeleteI heard the cookies are also quite good at Levain Bakery on the upper west side. They make them with dark chocolate and peanut butter and whatever ingredients have a a calorific density high enough to make you want start training for a marathon.
Foodgasm: Chocolate topped with chocolate, could anything sounds better?
DeleteMy favorite restaurants are on Smith Street in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Seersucker has amazing fried chicken and cheddar grits, and though the wait may be long, you can go next door for a handcrafted cocktail at the Brooklyn Social Club (I recommend the Negroni). There's also delicious Southern fair at Char No. 4, which doubles as an extensive whiskey bar. I usually go to brunch at Char for their Biscuits and Gravy Benedict. There's also a great cheese/meat shop called Stinky that's perfect for delicious specialty items -- besides the cheese, maybe pick up a can of the Smokra, smoked okra pickled in chili vinegar. The list goes on, but these are some of the best.
ReplyDeleteI live in Park Slope, so definitely trying the place in Cobble Hill!!! I notice that you might be a foodie too, am I wrong...:)
DeleteIt is truly amazing that you quated Luciano Pavarotti at the beginning of your blog. I've been thinking what to blog about. I thought about opera that I'm passionate about and started writing sth about it but still thinking about the concept. Are you "opera foodie" as well?
ReplyDeleteI like the "Opera foodie" term! Even if I am not too knowledgeable about opera, I like what Pavarotti does!
DeleteLove the picture, you can never go wrong with cupcakes. Im always looking to try cupcakes from the overwhelming amount of choices in this city. Just yesturday I went to Georgetown cupcakes in soho, that just opened last week. My pick would be the red velvet!
ReplyDeleteMiammmm!!!
DeleteRed Velvet is also my favorite!
Red Velvet cupcakes are my absolute favorite. Their is nothing more satisfying than a moist cake topped with cream cheese frosting. I have noticed that they are so popular that they are being used as the dessert for parties and even weddings versus the traditional boring sheet cakes of the past.
ReplyDeleteNow this is what I call a social conversation. And it's bringing on a Wednesday morning sweet tooth, as well!
ReplyDeleteNot to switch the conversation from sweet to savory, but I have to respond to John-David's comment about cheddar grits. I LOVE grits and am always excited to find them in the North(east). In fact, i just had shrimp and grits for dinner the other night at a restaurant in CT -- apparently the chef is from southern VA and there was a definite southern influence on the menu. We also had fried green tomatoes and salad with peanut dressing. YUM. My love of grits was renewed last year during a trip to Charleston, SC, where you can have grits with every meal. The pecan pralines are also amazing. Southern food is scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Ramen noodle bar is http://tottoramen.com/.
ReplyDeleteThis is a little Ramen Japanese restaurant which does the most wonderful Ramen in town. If there wouldn't be the waiting time...
I just got the Edible Brooklyn cookbook this weekend for my birthday!
ReplyDeleteOooh this cookbook is amazing!
DeleteHave you tried a recipes yet?
I made the beer-can chicken and the ricotta cheesecake, DELICIOUS!
No need to say that I make my other half very happy these days:)
