The Queen of Twitter


Lady Gaga reached a record 20 million followers on Twitter this weekend, solidifying her position as Queen of Twitter (and social media in general). Reading an article on Mashable, I was reminded of her tremendous and diverse marketing efforts riding up to the release of her most recent album. Gaga on Farmville, digital Gaga scavenger hunts at Starbucks, the album's 99 cent release on Amazon, an HBO concert special, Gaga curated collections on Gilt, exclusive video premieres on VEVO, GagaVision videos on YouTube, a countdown on iTunes, Google Chrome commercials, Facebook contests, etc. She was omnipresent in both the traditional and digital spaces, leading to record sales.
