We would be remiss to not mention Ashton Kutcher if we're having a conversation about celebrities' brands and influence on social media. Kutcher cofounded Katalyst Media, the company behind his television series Punk'd. A social media division was later added to the company.
He was an early pioneer on Twitter and an investor in the tech space. On April 16, 2009, Kutcher became the first Twitter user to reach one million followers. Through Twitter, he has brought awareness to the hunger epidemic and human trafficking.
Last year, Kutcher even used Twitter to publicly announce his divorce from Demi Moore: “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi,” he tweeted. This tweet linked to the original version of Kutcher's statement which he posted on the social platform Chime.in, where he's an investor: “marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK.” By posting his entire statement on the platform, Kutcher opportunistically marketed another one of his social media endeavors.
